bio

Originally from Chattanooga Tennessee, Katie started her art education at Covenant
College. Here, Katie also met her husband. After she discovered her talent, she decided to continue her education at Chattanooga
State and several years later at Kennesaw State University to work toward her B.F.A. Married in 1999, Katie and her
husband traveled to Scandinavia. They lived with family, studied and traveled around Norway and surrounding countries. Katie
was inspired by her surroundings and by the people she met. She began working with mixed media and text of a spiritual nature.
Her technique became more refined and her style her own. After 6 years in the Atlanta area, Katie moved back to Chattanooga
as the recipient of an arts grant. Katie teaches drawing and painting to elementary through high school students. Katie is
an active member of the arts community in Chattanooga, showing in area galleries and with an artist collective she is part
of, Our Clothesline Art Show. Katie, her husband Joel and their three children are part of the exciting revitalization
of the Southside of downtown Chattanooga.
